1 work $50 This is a key art award on the Sunshine Coast. This $5000 prize is a major art award, which has been in place for several years, supporting artists.
SECTION 2FF 1 entry $30 Special $2000 prize for a work featuring a food product or process specific to the Mary Valley. Kenilworth ArtsFest is a satellite event in the 2024 GourMay Mary Valley Food Fest.

Poetry – Primary School Students Up to 2 Entries Free
  • Theme is Kindness
  • Entries are to be submitted to kac@kenilwortharts.org.au as an email detailing the student’s name, age, Year level and school; and the poem as an attachment to the email
  • Entries must be received by midnight on Thursday 2 May 2024
  • Prizes and a certificate will be awarded to the winning poem from each Year level (Year 1 – Year 6), and a trophy will be awarded to one overall winner

Those entrants wishing to be considered for the Encouragement Award, please indicate on each entry that you wish to be considered for the Encouragement Award.

Poetry Primary School Students

  • the entries will be posted on the wall of Kenilworth Hall as part of the 2024 ArtsFest exhibition
  • winners will be invited to read their poem/s at the Opening Night held at Kenilworth Hall on Friday 17 May 2024

Poetry – Open

  • there is no theme; no entry form; no entry fee; no categories; no written entries
  • each entrant will nominate, via an open mic style listing on a blackboard, to read their original work/s at an Open Mic Poetry Reading hosted by two professional poets
  • the Open Mic Poetry Reading will be held at Kenilworth Hotel on Saturday 18 May, from 2.30-5.30pm
  • a limit of two poems per poet and a strict limit of 5 minutes for each poem will be imposed
  • poetry will be judged by a three-person panel, and there will also be a People’s Choice award judged by acclamation
  • an entrant can nominate a representative to do the reading

How did you hear about the arts/poetry competition?
Artist Declaration (Please tick)
  1. Entries must be the artist’s original work, completed between May 2023 and May 2024.
  2. Photography, digital or artist assisted works are not acceptable.
  3. The entry must not have won a prior first prize.
  4. Entry form and statement to be completed and declared/signed by artist and proof of payment attached.
  5. Each art entry is to have a label attached clearly showing title, medium, artist’s name, contact details, selling price.
  6. All works must be for sale with Kenilworth Arts Council retaining 25% commission. Artists are not to organise sales of exhibited works via any platform during the exhibition.
  7. 2D works must not exceed 155cm in any direction.
  8. 2D works must be ready to hang securely using conventional hanging systems. Items too heavy or too awkward to be supported by our hanging systems risk being rejected.
  9. Paintings with any wet areas will not be accepted.
  10. Diptych and triptych in separate frames will be regarded as multiple pieces.
  11. 3D works must not weigh more than 25kg or exceed 150cm in any direction. They must be stable, self-supporting and ready to display.
  12. 3D works needing to be hung in the same manner as 2D works will not be accepted.
  13. 3D works containing multiple components may be regarded as more than one piece.
  14. Please ensure that you have submitted the correct information about your works as no changes can be made after your entry has been received.
  15. Kenilworth Arts Council, in its absolute discretion, reserves the right to refuse any inappropriate material.
  16. The judges’ decisions are final and no correspondence will be entered into.
  17. Entries close at midnight on Monday 6 May. Delivery of artworks to Kenilworth Hall Friday 10 May & Saturday 11 May    9am – 3pm. Collection of works is from 2:30pm on Sunday 19 May and Monday 20 May 9am till 2pm.
  18. KAC reserves the right to withdraw the judging from any section should there be insufficient entries and to make alternative arrangements.
  19. All artworks are to remain in the exhibition until its closing at 2pm on Sunday 19 May 2024. Please do not request an earlier exit of your works.
  20. Entrants agree to allow Kenilworth Arts Council non–exclusive right to use images for promotional purposes.
  21. Unsold work not collected by 2:30pm 20 May, may be disposed of at the organisers’ discretion.
  22. While Kenilworth Arts Council takes every care, we will not be responsible for any loss or damage at the exhibition or in transit. We strongly advise entrants to insure their own artworks.
